Conceived as a clear and precise gesture on the Melides landscape, this house was designed to convey the essence of summer in all its forms – the light that runs through the space, through the openings. The architecture responds with restraint, simple volumes, natural materials and a structure that opens entirely to the outside.

Light is not just a presence, but a design element. Each surface has been oriented and sized to receive solar energy and diffuse it evenly throughout the interiors. The house becomes an extension of the environment, a platform for experiencing warmth, salt, silence – and above all, a pause in time.

Integration with your surroundings

Architecture that surrounds itself with nature

This vacation home, located in Melides, was born from an essential principle: architecture should amplify the qualities of the place. Developed for a coastal context, the house takes on a low, horizontal profile, integrating with the natural topography and responding directly to the conditions of the site.

The orientation of the sun, the direction of the wind and the texture of the sand guided decisions from the initial sketch to the construction details. The result is a structure that doesn’t impose itself, but rather fits in – efficient and connected to the environment.

Spaces that draw on light and nature

Fluidity and integration

The organization of the space favours visual continuity and fluidity between interior and exterior. The roof with geometries cut out in a regular rhythm is not just a formal gesture; it acts as shading that modulates the light throughout the day, creating thermal comfort.

The light wooden structure supports wide openings, optimizing the entry of light and promoting ventilation. This house does not isolate: it invites the outside to participate.

The swimming pool as a central element

Reflections, balance and contemplation

At the center of the proposal, the swimming pool occupies a strategic position. More than a leisure element, it acts as an extension of the building, increasing the volume of the house and reinforcing the central axis of the composition. The water reflects the structure throughout the day, duplicating the landscape.

The wooden deck provides a sensory transition zone, reinforcing barefoot use and the informality of summer. The pool, with its clean lines and controlled depth, invites you to linger and gaze. It is a piece of contemplation and experience.

Project Gallery

Unique characteristics that set it apart

Light structure, using wood and glass: The house adopts a light construction system, making it easier to adapt to the terrain and reducing environmental impact. Wood and glass are in constant dialog with the landscape.

Roof designed for shading: The angled roof generates shadows throughout the day, reducing thermal gain and promoting passive comfort. In addition to its thermal function, it creates an identity for the project, marking the rhythm and profile of the building.

Integrated pool as the visual axis of the house: The pool is the center of outdoor life, organizing the surrounding spaces and reflecting the architecture.

Continuous relationship between interior and exterior areas: Large openings eliminate the boundaries between inside and outside, promoting spatial fluidity. The deck, the shadows and the sand make up a permanent outdoor experience, natural to the climate of Melides.
