The house in the landscape
The decision to swap the city for the vastness of the countryside is the starting point for this project. A British couple with two children are looking for a quiet refuge in Benavente, where time slows down and space opens up. The land, over four hectares, imposes a different scale, more horizontal, more expansive.
The house appears as a simple feature in the territory, sheltered among the vegetation, discreet in its presence, clear in its intention.
Living the horizon
Architectural lightness in harmony with the landscape
The layout refuses any imposing gestures. The house rests on the land with the lightness of one who observes without disturbing. The orientation extends the visual entanglements, but protects from direct exposure.
The composition develops longitudinally, parallel to the profile of the ground, almost like a continuation of the topography – in a relationship of proximity and balance with the natural surroundings.
Rhythm, routine, meeting
Field and structure design the dwelling
The house is organized intuitively. One area for the common spaces – living room, kitchen, dining – another for the bedrooms and private areas. Between them, the rhythm is set by the light and the structure.
The glass façade allows the interior to be drawn with the exterior: it is the countryside that will mark the cadence of the days. The visible wooden structure, the staircase, the double-height ceilings – these are restrained gestures that are essential to the experience of space.

Weight, texture, comfort
Silent textures shape the lived space
The choice of materials is deliberately restricted. Stone at the base, wood on the inside, white capoto on the upper volume. The composition does not seek contrast but continuity and harmony.
The sloping roof is treated as a sculptural element, defining the space and accompanying the light. The interior is tactile, quiet and contained – ready to be experienced slowly

Unique characteristics that set it apart
The house sits on the land.
No walls or platforms. The volume follows the terrain, as if it had always been there.
The entrance is unmarked.
It happens between trees, in the silence of the woods. A discreet, almost domestic gesture.
The roof defines the space.
Inclined, continuous, it extends into the interior. It draws light and time.
The structure is matter.
In wood and stone. Visible, but contained. It builds with gravity and lightness.
The façade is just glass.
It opens up to the countryside, without limits. The landscape enters and becomes home.
The living room is central.
With double-height ceilings, a library and a fireplace. A place to stay and relax.
The staircase is a light element, almost absent. It connects the floors without interrupting them.

The mezzanine looks out.
A working or reading space. It hangs over the room, facing outwards.
Life is outside.
The decked platform extends the interior. The house ends in the countryside, with no transition.
